I verified that there is  pkg-config section in mpc generated makefiles.
Nevertheless, still working toward 5.8.3 for debian.
ready. make install is really good step, a better one is to install ace
files in the same directories for each linux distro. But this is a
little harder because each distro has its own policies and conventions :)

BTW. Building debian at OSB seems to be a important  improvement for
packaging. It is a pity that OSB does not offer any other than x86 build
architectures.
