They are two different issues currently:
  1. TAO is no longer distributable along with ACE. (See #697848)
     This is quite challenging, because:
      * it requires to repackage TAO separately, for non-free+contrib
        binary packages
      * this means we will have to find a mechanism (abi compliance
        checker? Tight build dependencies?) to make sure
      * we will have to struggle to keep ACE and TAO packaging in line.

  2. ACE is outdated. That's BAU.

Is there anything you can do for 1.? I remember you said sometimes TAO
IDL compiler license issue will vanish. How far from this are we? What
about the other license issue with CDR encoding/decoding?
