reassign 609846 linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64
thanks

> I just installed Debian Squeeze on a new Toshiba Satellite L640 laptop, but acpi doesn't recognize its battery. As a result, neither the system nor graphical applications can access the battery's state or charge.

With the acpi tool only reading system information and not having any
connection to the graphical applications I assume that you did not want to
report this against acpi but against the kernel you're running. Therefore I
reassign the bug report. Feel free to reassign back if I misunderstood.

> $ ls /proc/acpi/battery/

No surprise here, the interface moved to /sys/class/power_supply.
