[Pkg-acpi-devel] Fan Speed Doesn't Adjust

To whom it may concern:

I've posted this in bug trackers all over the place, and I figured you
were the guys to e-mail.  I'm using a Toshiba Satellite L355D-S7829
laptop PC with an AMD Turion X2 64 processor and H20 BIOS.  I've had an
issue between all of the Linux distros I've used, and I've only
experienced this issue using Linux and only on this machine.  The
processor fan does not adjust speed to compensate for increases in heat.
If the computer is cool when I first turn it on, the fan will remain at
a low speed for the entire time the computer is running.  However, if I
heat the computer up and get the processor really hot, then reboot,
during or immediately after Grub the fan will kick into high speed and
stay there, effectively helping keep the computer cool.  However, it's a
bit annoying to have to "warm up" and reboot my computer if I plan on
doing anything other than using LibreOffice.  I've tried echoing
everything you can think of to the various files in /etc/proc , and mine
is laid out differently than the older IBM laptops I see having this
issue.

This isn't a deal breaker for me, but Debian is the only OS I use, and
if I could get this fixed, or at least point me in the right direction
so I can fix it, I would greatly appreciate it.  Again thanks for
producing possibly the best operating system in the world guys, you
rock!
