It's hardly unusual to have a system without nVidia hardware.<br></blockquote></div><br>It doesn't say "in all but unusual hardware configurations". :-)<br><br>Anyhow, the intention is that the package makes things work "out of the box" for all users, novices included. If a user has nVidia hardware and this isn't installed, then some functionality will simply be absent, and even an advanced user will have absolutely no idea why. Therefore, it is preferable that we consider install-everything-it-might-possibly-need as a "usual installation", i.e., this stuff is installed by default, and the advanced user can choose to remove it while tweaking the system.<br>
