For some time now I have noticed the following behavior of
alsa when updating the alsa-driver packages under debian ppc sid.
I have external speakers attached to my G4 Powermac and have
amixer set to have the PC Speaker muted and it volumes also set to
0%,0%. These changes are stored using alsactl. The changes are
retained across boots without problems so that only the external
speakers produce sound. However after I install newer alsa-driver
packages I find that immediately the PC Speaker is no longer
muted and the volumes are no longer zero. Can this be addressed
in the debian alsa-drivers packages? It is annoying to have to
reset the PC Speaker settings and resave them after every alsa-driver
update. Thanks.
