Package: alsa-base
Version: 1.0.9b-1

Although the file alsasound in /etc/init.d/ is not mentioned in files
belonging to alsa-base, I have no glue where it should belong to else.
It is not found in any other package also. This file starts the sound
drivers, but is not linked in the runlevels, so the sound does not work.
If the file is from you, please add it to the runlevels, if not forward
this report to the correct place.

Karsten

Thanks for the report.

This file is not included in or created by the current alsa-base
package. Possibly it was added by the system administrator when he or
she installed ALSA from the upstream tarball. The upstream tarball
contains an initscript named 'alsasound'. The ALSA initscript in Debian
is named simply 'alsa'.

If you have no sound then that is a different problem; please file a new
bug report against alsa-base using the reportbug utility.
