[Pkg-alsa-devel] Bug#366212: The problem consists

Hi!

I read the last message in the thread (then you closed the bug) written by
Jordi Mallach, Wed, 05 Jul 2006 and my the problem consists. But I had only
replaced the packages, not the kernel which is a ordinary Debian 2.6.15-1-k7.
(This message is irrelevant and may be trashed if the alsa-kernel-modules is
the ones that makes Artsd do a cpu overload on Via82xx chips.)

I tried a fresh Etch install yesterday. I have run Sarge in the meantime. I
throwed out Etch in February because of the problems with Artsd (cpu
overload) and that my TV/radio card doesn't gave any sound any more. Those
two problems arised at the same time then I upgrade Alsa sometimes ( as I
remeber it now) during November or December 2005. I supposte it was then I
upgrade from Alsa 1.0.8. (I have run Sarge since Februari and both Artsd and
my TV/radio card works exellent. But I was forced to write 'snd_via82xx'
in /etc/modules so Udev or Discover doesn't let the bttv module take over
during bootup.)

Back to my fresh Etch install. I did as recomended in Jordi Mallach message
and installed:
alsa-base 1.0.11-3
linux-sound-base 1.0.11-3
libasound 1.0.11-7

but that doesn't help. Artsd makes my cpu hot and no sound from the TV/radio
card.

Then followed Nick Leverton, Tue, 4 Jul 2006 tips and did
a /etc/modutils/00local file with 'options snd-via82xx dxs_support=2' in it i
prevented Arts from going wild but there are still no sound from the TV/radio
card. But I got the system notification working.

In my opinion this bug is real serious and I will go back to Sarge until the
problem is solved. And, as I wrote before, I think the silent TV/radio card
has connections with this bug. If you want more info than I give below send
me a mail.

Best wishes
