Don't know the snd_usb_audio yet......

Which is Lennies default, yeah.

What's that?

Should work flawless

Hmm, are you using an external usb sound card? Which one? BTW, are
you able to hear music or any other sound?

I triggered out that trigger uses OpenAL and it looks for a backend
in this order:

alsa,oss,solaris,dsound,winmm,port,wave

The fact it looks for /dev/dsp shows that it doesn't found alsa and
tries oss, though. I assume, that your usb sound card isn't really a
soundcard. Maybe a microphone or a miss recognized webcam?

Did you tried to hear sound with your HDA-Intæl one?

ich != root. It is dangerous and can be worth to work as root!
Thought ich = a local user. If you run 'id' as normal user, you can
check wether user is in group audio or not. To hear sound as user it
is absolutely essential to be in group audio! root doesn't need to
be.....

Rest seems to be ok.
