Clearly, it's not the same package, as installed by apt.

You can check md5sum's also by unpacking (dpkg -x) the original deb for Lenny:
http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/a/awstats/awstats_6.7.dfsg-5.1_all.deb

$ md5sum usr/share/awstats/plugins/geoip_city_maxmind.pm
d9ad7a74e856667aa2690d4ea41c7eba
usr/share/awstats/plugins/geoip_city_maxmind.pm

Either reinstall or replace changed files.

You can use Geo::IP Perl Module (faster, available for Lenny as
libgeo-ip-perl) instead of pure perl module.
