Uhm, I use same combination (git-buildpackage, .gitignore, source format
3.0 and local-options) across more than 100 packages.
I do not have problems myself with this combinations and my custom
wrapper, but more importantly others that I work with maintaining other
packages do not complain either - and they use various other approaches.
This is my reason for being sceptical to your reverting my change due to
a setup which involves a local wrapper, even if I also use a local
wrapper. :-)

I mean using debuild. I.e. without your local wrapper, and without
pbuilder wrapper, both of which I suspect may not (yet) work as sensibly
with git-maintained packaging as dpkg-source format 3.0 and debuild.

Makes sense that git-pbuilder could be improved so that your wrapper
works too. I still believe that it is wrong to revert my change, and
encourage you to instead change your wrapper to work _around_ bugs in
intermediary wrappers.
