OK, those machines became available again. I didn't try a full build,
but at least the testcase from http://gcc.gnu.org/PR26560 (as linked
from http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=354439) can be
compiled successfully using gcc-3.4, so this seems to be the way to go
for both archs for the moment (gcc-4.2 supposedly works, but has only
made it to experimental so far).
Please test / improve the current state of packaging. If there is
anything you wish to change, then now is a convenient time. :)


However, a new problem crept up: the package now FTBFS when linking
blender:

This seems to be unrelated to my recent changes as the previous 2.42-1
FTBFS likewise in my up-to-date build environment. The cause for this
might be obvious, but I'm short in time and will be unavailable for a
few days again, so I just thought I'd let you know as I've already
committed my changes to Alioth ...
