That's a good start, but in the long run you should consider installing
all the sizes. Scaling icons up and down doesn't give good results, and
it would be a shame not to use the whole set when they are available.

They should be installed
into /usr/share/icons/hicolor/SIZE/apps/blender.EXT
see for example the gimp package. Also see the icon theme spec,
http://standards.freedesktop.org/icon-theme-spec/icon-theme-spec-latest.html#install_icons

This really do make a difference when it comes to looks in a modern DE.
