Frank has kindly prepared  a Wiki page on the setup of the boinc server,
which is accessible here http://wiki.debian.org/BOINC/Server, with a
series of links that will help you further. There is also a branch of
the git repository to prepare Debian Server packages. I have not seen
binary packages, though it is probably anyway beneficial to your studies
to  compile everything from source. It is some years ago that I
personally tried compiling such, so I cannot help overly much. The
Debian package in my view is nice to have, and good for updating the
resource infrastructure, probably, but you need to know so much more to
configure your server, that the lacking binaries should not be much of 
a hurdle to you.

It would be great if you could close the gaps in the documentation that
you encounter and feed that back to the Debian BOINC Wiki pages.
