Binary package hint: synaptic

I just built my first Linux computer with a NVidia 9800 GPU. The version
of the BOINC client and manager installed by Synaptic 6.2.12 does not
support GPU processing. The current version of BOINC on their web site
6.4.5 does support GPU processing for both x86 and x64 Linux. Are there
plans to catch up with the newer version of BOINC in the package
manager? All of my Windows computers are already running 6.4.5 or newer
versions of BOINC and using their GPU's, but I am new to Linux and
limited to using the package manager to install/update applications.

Thanks,
