[pkg-boost-devel] Which boost version to build-depend on?

Hi boost team. I'm wondering which package should packages build-depend on?
libboost$version-dev, or libboost-dev? liboost-dev seems to be older (1.34 vs
1.35), but lots of people use it[1], and it is the logic thing to use. The
problem is that libboost-dev and libboost$version-dev conflict, so if I have
2 packages build-depending on the different pacakges I can't develop both
(although preliminary tests show that compilation succeeds if I pass -nc,
IOW, there are no api problems, at least on my packages).

So... what should packages build-depend on? The current situation is wrong, I
think, and libboost-dev should be a metapackage depending on the current
default version of boost, and have all packages not having strict
requirements build-depend on that.

[1] % grep-dctrl -FBuild-Depends \
libboost-dev -sPackage /var/lib/apt/lists/ftp.au.debian.org_debian_dists_sid_main_source_Sources |
wc -l
