As mentioned, I've done this with 1.39.  Boost 1.40 is now out, and I
hope to get it packaged this week. I plan to retain the compatibility
symlinks in 1.40.

I updated NEWS.Debian making it clear that the non-mt names are
preferred.  I plan to communicate this directly to the boost rdep
maintainers in the near future.  However, I hate to cause more churn
in packaging for this issue, so I'm leaning towards keeping the
symlinks for some time.  Opinions welcome.
