[pkg-boost-devel] Backporting Boost 1.38 for Lenny

Dear Boost Developers,

I'm maintaining a boost-using package in sid (schroot) which is
used by the Debian autobuilder infrastructure which is based
upon Debian stable. In order to allow the autobuilders to use
newer versions of the build tools, I upload backported versions
of the tools to backports.org.

However, given that I will be moving to depending on Boost 1.38
as soon as it enters stable, I just wanted to enquire about the
possibility of getting Boost 1.38 uploaded to backports.

Since I'm not using parts of Boost which change much (regex,
program_options, shared_ptr), I should be OK to build against
most Boost versions. The only issue I had when moving to from
1.34 to 1.37 was the need to patch the upstream configure
scripts:

http://git.debian.org/?p=buildd-tools/schroot.git;a=commitdiff;h=ddc24070583534c222464164b43dff42c9f9b5ad

Depending on when this took place, it might be possible to use
a version of Boost already in stable with the appropriate
versioned build-deps. This would save the need for backporting.

Regards,
Roger
