My plan was to wait for 1.48 which, according to the Boost Release
Schedule (http://www.boost.org/development/index.html) was due to be
out last Monday.

It isn't out yet, unfortunately, but the Boost team is tracking
progress (http://lists.boost.org/Archives/boost/2011/11/187705.php)
and I'm hopeful it will be released in a matter of a week or so.
