Okay, so to summarize, the problem is present in

 Debian experimental (= 7.0.544)

and absent in

 Google stable (= 7.0.517)

Could you try the beta (= 8.0.552) or the Debian package in testing
(= 6.0.472)?  That would give a hint of whether this is a regression
or something else.
