I have installed Debian Stretch Cinnamon with the iso Stretch
Netinstall,<br>
and I have chosen the installation in expert mode.<br>
I have installed the basic components, and then I installed
Cinnamon with<br>
the package cinnamon.<br>
But it is impossible to install or applets or desklets, or
extensions.<br>
I looked in the log of the looking glass, no error.<br>
In a terminal, I typed this<br>

I tried to install all the applets available online, and I got

- I have completely uninstalled Cinnamon, purge the
configuration files in<br>
the /home<br>
- I am also doing dpkg-reconfigure cinnamon.<br>
- I have turned off the firewall ufw.<br>
- I tried with several internet connections.<br>

With a minimal installation of Debian Testing with Cinnamon,
this problem<br>
does not exist, manipulation applied to a virtual machine.<br>
By installing only the package cinnamon, and not
cinnamon-core, and not<br>
cinnamon-desktop-environment, everything works, the applet
will install.<br>

This is a known bug of Stretch with Cinnamon 3.2.7-4 ??<br>

Actually I not have Stretch install to check this now (I tested only
Sid with cinnamon 3.6 where all is working), cinnamon 3.2 have some
issue (solved in 3.4 except network improved in 3.6) but if I
remember good install of applet was working.<br>

I remember only wget not added but for what I remember was about
sound applet cover download that have also memory leak issue and was
better not have wget, I have no time to check the code now, if you
want try install wget if missed and retry to update applet cache and
download/install one<br>

Another thing if I remember good is that cinnamon 3.4 had
significative applet/desklet/extension changes, if the issue is
related to this cinnamon>=3.4 is required install/use updated
applets/desklet/extension but actually there aren't backports<br>

It is a problem for users that they want to do a custom

And to be deprived of some of the options of this desktop
