    If that's the only supported way I'm very much curious how it
managed to build on zelenka and zandonai without modification.

Which, unfortunately, doesn't work that easily -- inside the system
there's another configure call that doesn't inherit --build and therefor
fails (i18n/) -- I'm currently trying to get that working, can't even
build on my main machine directly.
