Is there any news on this issue? I tried to help and, after following various Debian manuals, I uploaded an updated package to mentors, which can be found here <http://mentors.debian.net/package/cffi>. I doubt it is right. I couldn't find an appropriate WNPP bug for this situation, so I didn't file one.
