Just so you know there is at least minor progress on the Debian front...
tonight I successfully packaged both bibledit and sword within a Debian
Lenny virtual machine, so I have Debian binary .debs of those now.

Which leads to the obvious question: where should I put them? Ubuntu
PPAs just gained an interesting new capability (multiple PPAs per
person, so I could much more easily keep the CrossWire-related stuff I
do from the security-related stuff I dabble in occasionally, from the
more general "I'll just patch *that* little bug over there, because I
can" MOTU-like stuff I also do when the mood takes me!), but these PPAs
still can't build or contain Debian-targetted binary .debs as far as I know.

While I can create a little Debian crosswire repo for testing if I need
to, it might be better to see if we can get a more "official" repo for
ourselves somewhere, somewhere relatively permanent. A repo named...
packages.crosswire.org ? debian.crosswire.org ? Any other
possibilities that seem good for the longer term? Can the CrossWire
folks offer this kind of thing? Is it even worth getting that much
"officialness", or should I just use whatever server resources I can
find to host this little package repository for now?

Now we actually have some Debian binary packages that I could make
available in a little repo for testing, this is not a purely theoretical
set of questions any more :)
