Package: cupsys
Version: 1.1.19final-3
Severity: grave
Tags: sid
Justification: renders package unusable

Sid can't print to my local Epson Photo 700 (parallel port).
Jobs enter the queue, show up very briefly in lpq, then disappear
without the printer light ever blinking to show data transfer.
No error messages show up on stdout or on the console.

I've been able to print to this printer using an older Sarge (also with
cups) as well as other distros, but I haven't tried with a recently
updated Sarge (no printer port on the machine that's up to date).

escputil still works fine to report ink levels, so the cable and bios
settings for the port are presumably okay.

Some other package versions that reportbug isn't listing which may
be relevant:
ii cupsys-driver- 4.2.5-6 Gimp-Print printer drivers for CUPS
ii libgimpprint1 4.2.5-6 The Gimp-Print printer driver library
