I think it will happen even if you use lp command of cupsys-client...
So this bug will be reassigned to cupsys.

I haven't any Kyocera or HP printers, so it's hard to reproduce it on
my side. There is no viewers for such binary data also, I think.

But cupsys 1.2.1-3 seems some fixes around pstops and pstoraster.
Could you try this version?

Another reason is on gutenprint or others. Generally CUPS just pass raw
data to such filter programs.
