[Pkg-cups-devel] [kudos] Printing working perfectly for the first time ever

I've been using Debian since 2005, and I've owned an HP DeskJet 6122 
inkjet printer since around that time.

Yesterday, I had to print some receipts in a hurry so I could mail them 
before I went to work.  Just then, I got burned with the libpoppler5 bug 
which was preventing CUPS from doing anything useful at all.  I had 
recently cleaned up my APT cache, so I had no working DEB on hand to 
which I could downgrade, and I had no luck finding an older version on 
the internet.  I _did_ get luck in finding Debian sources for the 
previous version of libpoppler5... so after installing 150MB of 
build-depends I was able to produce my own DEBs and get CUPS going again.

I've always had problems with getting CUPS to understand where the 
margins are on my paper.  Particularly when printing web pages using 
Iceweasel, which ought to give nice headers and footers with date, page 
number, URI, etc.  These headers/footers typically get cut off... no 
doubt a curable problem if I had expended enough effort, but whatever 
efforts I had put into it (on several occasions) in the past merely 
resulted in frustration and resignation.

It was with great surprise (and joy!) that I discovered yesterday -- in 
a mad rush to get the paperwork printed in time so I wouldn't be late 
for work -- that the web pages I was printing receipts from were turning 
out PERFECTLY!  Headers and footers all present, nothing half (or 
totally) cut off, no regions of the page with inexplicably fading ink.

So, I just wanted to say THANK YOU.  I am using CUPS, naturally, but I 
configured the printer using HPLIP.  I have no way of knowing which 
suite of packages changed to allow this perfection, but clearly both 
sets are working perfectly (for me) to give me these excellent results. 
  So I decided I should thank both sets of developers at once!

I use Debian Sid, with these software versions:
