Package: cups
Version: 1.3.8-1lenny5
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi,

I am not sure the qualification of this report is as severe as mentionned,
but it may cause problems of usability while it's description is a little
subtile detail regarding cups itself:
after you configure cups for the first time, you'll be able at that moment
to print a testpage;
when you reboot the system later, you'll see you are no longer able to use
the printer at all; reason:
cups had turned your Brother, Canon or whatever printer into cups-pdf, and
that doesn't work at all.
I declare it here as severe since this may have an impact for normal users
on the same computer who aren't administrators or hadn't such permissions to
modify and fix the problem.
The problem is that you have to re-enter in cups' configuration menu and
resete each time the Brother, Canon or so printer as default.
This is not specifi to Debian but also concerns the other deb-based distro
named Ubuntu.
Feel free to report this to cups if the problem is general and may concern
CUPS in any cases.
Anyway the impact is important, even if the bug is very little.

Thanx for fixing this for all CUPS/distros.
