[Pkg-cups-devel] Bug#546922: cups is unuseable on kfreebsd now

Package: cups
Version: 1.3.11-2
Severity: serious

Hi,

since the addition of the coldplug feature in version 1.3.11-2:
  * debian/cups.init.d: Trigger udev event for all USB printers right after
starting the CUPS daemon to run the udev callouts for the printers. This
allows automatic print queue setup and re-enabling print queues also if
the printer is cold-plugged (connected before CUPS and/or udev got
    started).
this package is unuseable on kfreebsd.

One way to fix this would be to put "if [ -x /sbin/udevadm ]; then
...; fi" around the coldplug code, and use udev as dependency on
linux, but not on kfreebsd.

Additional, I would suggest to downgrade from "Depends" to
"Recommends", as with this change udev isn't required for operation
anymore (but one just looses the coldplug functionality, which in
quite many cases is not an issue).

Cheers,
Andi
