This is definitely one of the undead, because it keeps slipping back
into the production process. The solution is described, as far as I can
tell, in message #15 from Sat, 04 Dec 2010 by Eric Pozharski. If you

P.S. I don't know whether this is a cups problem too, but dpkg stumbles 
upon something odd while configuring cups: 
update-rc.d: warning: /etc/init.d/cups missing LSB information
