Yes.  That is exactly my meaning.  The longevity of the Etch release
cycle is what is motivating me.  If it was a single point in the future
after which we are then absolved of furter connection with the package,
I would not care so much.  But since it represents a long futur
commitment, I think we need to strive to get the new code in there since
the security support will get arbitrarily hard to the end of the Etch
cycle when we are dealing with 4+ year old upstream code which has been
patch many times.
