OK.  I am willing to concede the point and #257181 unfixed.  That being
the case, we can get rid of the MAINTSCRIPT hack in the initscript and
get rid of the {pre,post}{rm,inst} scripts in the debian/ directory,
sinc ethe auto-generated scripts are suitable.
