Well, <switching back to release manager hat> yes, I'm prepared to work with
you on this; it does look like having the new upstream version in etch would
be a significant improvement.  But we would need to get it into unstable
quickly.

It is still contingent on the new packages being compatible with the
existing ones, of course, to not "rock the boat" for the release.
