find correct /dev/sd?1

Package: doc-linux-html
X-Debbugs-CC: nikos at friedrichs.up.ac.za
Version: 2005.09-1
Severity: minor
File: /usr/share/doc/HOWTO/en-html/Flash-Memory-HOWTO/verifications.html
There is a leap in logic on verifications.html where the author
magically assumes the device is /dev/sda1.
He doesn't say how to make sure which /dev/sd?1 it really is, in case
the user cannot unplug all his other USB things before reading
verifications.html.
Other parts of the document seem to brush nearer to the problem but not all the way.
Hmmm,
perl -nwle 's/.*Attached.* (.*) at .*/$1/&& print' /var/log/syslog
seems to find some.
