I'm afraid I have been so pressed for time in the last few months that I
haven't been able to find time to work on the GHDL package. I'm very
interest in keeping the GHDL package up and running, but that has started to
be more difficult since it slowed way down upstream. Besides "real life"
concerns, I have some other upstream open-source EDA projects in the works
that are taking most of my time currently.

Anyway, I have taken a look at your package, and it seems you've rolled in
some good patches, and done great work in general. However, it is a big
change from how GHDL is currently packaged (for example, the change to use
the gcc-4.7-source package looks good now, but I had to specifically STOP
using the gcc-X.Y-source package years back when this caused TONS of
problems as soon as it got out of date). Another example is that you
generate the GCC tarball from the GHDL-SVN-style layout rather than using a
release tarball (which is actually a very good idea given the current
upstream state and makes appling patches easier in general). Anyway, no
complaints here on either of these, really -- just examples of how its not
totally trivial to merge what you have versus what is in Debian currently.

Since I just can't currently promise that I'll be able to take the time to
roll everything up together very soon, I've CC'd this conversation to the
Debian Electronics Packaging team. Perhaps somewhere there has the time and
energy to roll in your changes nicely into the Alioth GHDL colloborative
maintenance Git repository (ssh://git.debian.org/git/collab-maint/ghdl.git).

To the pkg-electronics team, please consider this e-mail explicit permission
to NMU GHDL and/or add yourself as a co-maintainer at your own discression.
I just ask that if you make changes, please take a very close look at how
the Git repository currently works, especially with regards to topic
branches before starting, so that any changes you make are applied correctly
in the right places.
