I've got a handful of minor fixes to the packaging accumulated up but
haven't managed to commit them yet, hopefully this weekend. Thanks for
pinging about this!

One bug that I just had reported in Ubuntu was that running
/usr/bin/couchdb as a normal user gives an ugly crash message.
Naturally, running as the couchdb user or using sudo works fine. Should
/usr/bin/couchdb actually be /usr/sbin/couchdb?

Another fix that I've made in Ubuntu and would like to apply in debian
is removing the delete of the system couchdb user during package purge.

Finally, a more thorny issue that I'm hitting in Ubuntu that doesn't
seem to be a problem in Debian yet but perhaps will be: moving from
libmozjs to xulrunner. It seems that in Ubuntu 9.10, libmozjs will be
gone, and the only way to get the spidermonkey JS library is to depend
on xulrunner-dev. This is less than desirable because it drags in X
dependencies, which is fine for the desktop but not so good on the
server. I haven't yet found out all the reasons for the transition, or
how hard it would be to split up the xulrunner packaging to make
spidermonkey available in a smaller package without so many dependencies.
