wss4j (Apache WSS4J WS-Security) is a package that was created in order<br>
to build the Eucalyptus packages, which are currently removed. The<br>
wss4j fails to build from source in Jessie and Unstable.<br>

Current version in Debian is 1.5.8. On the upstream website, versions 1.5.12<br>
and 1.6.12 are available. The 1.6 line diverged after 1.5.11. A version<br>
1.5.13, fixing some extra bugs, is available as a SVN tag but is not advertised<br>
on the upstream website.<br>

The Debian package contains a patch removing some code related to SAML, for a<br>
reason that I do not remember. This patch does not apply cleanly to version<br>
1.5.12, and I suppose it will be the same for 1.6.12. For this reason, I could<br>
not test if updating to one of the latest upstream releases will make the wss4j<br>
package build again for source. Not knowing Java enough, I could not go<br>
further.<br>

My questions are the following:<br>

- Is wss4j still needed in Debian ? Would Eucalyptus 3.0 still use it ?<br>
- Is the Java team interested by taking it over, in any case ?<br>
