[Evolution] Bug#276561: Try NetworkManager

If you use NetworkManager (package network-manager and
network-manager-gnome) to connect, it has integration with evolution so
that evolution goes offline when you loose your connection.

This is not exactly what you asked for (I'm not sure if it works on
suspend), so I won't close the wishlist item.
