[Evolution] Bug#470964: Problem (and repeatable crash) in Folder Subscription dialog

For some reason Evolution no longer downloads the list of newsgroups
properly from the server (Leafnode 1.11.6-5). In the Folder Subscription
dialog, after choosing the server, the top level of each hierarchy
exists, but expanding most of them reveals nothing but "Loading ...",
e.g.

 > allt 
 > ally
 > alphanet
 v alt
     Loading ...
 > alt-music
 > altadena

... etc. Clicking on Refresh does not change anything, it does not
re-download the active file from the server. Clicking on the tickbox on
any "Loading ..." line causes Evolution to crash (immediate
disappearance type crash, no error message).
