I'm afraid I can't reproduce this at all. I don't really use pop
anymore, but I definitely remember it was working fine. Is there a way
you can try IMAP and report back? Is the rest of evolution working fine?
Is there any network traffic? If you run on a terminal, is there
anything output?

Thanks,
