Package: exim4-config Version: 4.34-9 Severity: normal

I upgraded to 4.34-9 from 4.34-8. I noticed the new debconf option for
localdelivery. However I was not prompted to configure this, and it was
not added to update-exim4.conf.conf. dpkg-reconfigure exim4-config did
not ask for me to choose this option either. I assumed the update script
would take care of things, but mail started going straight to spool
instead of my previous configuration of LOCAL_DELIVERY=maildir_home

I have now manually added dc_localdelivery='maildir_home' to
update-exim4.conf.conf which has solved the problem.

The naming in update-exim4.conf.conf seems to be a little unordered too.
some options with a underscore separating words and others not. (I
initially assumed dc_local_delivery would be correct)

It is not debconf-ized and I never claimed it was (otherwise #250980
was not still open.):

That is no bug.

There is a sane default (mail_spool), there is no need to
add it otherwise. Which is why I am closing this report.

That is the way to do it. As documented in README.Debian.

Yes, but that cannot be helped, the important thing is that thecorrect
option is documented.

Mmmh. I just realized that the documentation for this option is
incomplete in update-exim4.conf(8), I've fixed this in CVS.
