Sorry for the delayed answer, I was intellectually offline.

I totally agree. It should even be mentioned that there is an advice to
this README _very_ close to the plain_saslauthd authenticator.
Unfortunately, this comment follows the sasl block as it is concerns
the exim = client examples. So it didn't come to my mind to take a look
into it (I sh/could have read it anyway).
Just to assist the desperate administrator and increase the efficiency
of the README - would it be possible to repeat the hint to the README
in front of the saslauthd block?
