The "From " line is a separator in an old-fashioned mbox to mark the
border between two messages in the mbox file. To avoid confusion, any
line starting with "From " in the message gets escaped with ">" when
the file is wrriten.

So what happens is that one From:-line is generated by one tool, and a
second one by a second one.

I suspect that the "From Debian-exim" is generated by procmail.

I have not worked with mboxes in years, I cannot comment any more.
