[Pkg-exim4-users] Support for virtual domains

Hi there,

I'm in the process of moving from Exim 4.69 (under Debian Lenny) to Exim 4.72
(under Debian Squeeze) and I've just noticed that support for virtual domains
in the form of the file:

 /etc/exim4/conf.d/router/350_exim4-config_vdom_aliases

has been dropped somewhere along the way.

I've searched the Changelog files (found under /usr/share/doc/exim*) and the
Exim mailing list archives (using Gmane) for the keywords 'virtual' or 'vdom'
and found nothing relevant.

Can it really be that this decision was taken without an accompanying
announcement?

Anyway, I've reintroduced the file:

 /etc/exim4/conf.d/router/350_exim4-config_vdom_aliases [1]

verbatim and everything seems to be working fine so I'm also wondering why the
decision to drop support for virtual domains was taken.

Sebastian

[1] /etc/exim4/conf.d/router/350_exim4-config_vdom_aliases:

 vdom_aliases:
      driver = redirect
      allow_defer
      allow_fail
      domains = dsearch;/etc/exim4/virtual
      data =
      ${expand:${lookup{$local_part}lsearch*@{/etc/exim4/virtual/$domain}}}
      retry_use_local_part
      pipe_transport   = address_pipe
      file_transport   = address_file
      no_more
