Package: fetchmail
Version: 6.2.5-12sarge1
Severity: normal

OK I'm trying to enable fetching from my GMail account. I've added the proper
syntax to my ~HOME/fetchmailrc. When running in full verbose mode, fetchmail
exits promptly (without attempting to poll GMail), saying ".fetchmailrc:9: SSL
is not enabled at ssl"

Here is the syntax (with personal info removed) I'm using in my fetchmailrc;

    poll pop.gmail.com with proto POP3
user 'stephen.d.allen at gmail.com' there with password 'XXXXXX' is stevexxx here
        options keep ssl sslfingerprint 'C5:70:C4:A2:ED:53:78:0C:C8:10:53:81:64:CB:D0:1D'
            sslcertck sslcertpath /etc/ssl/certs

I included the syntax to show that I'm using correct syntax, in order to rule
that out.

I'm using stock Debian Sarge -- I've been told on debian-user that SSL is
enabled in the Sarge fetchmail package, and I use SSL with mutt, so it's
enabled.

In my view this is a bug, as it's not the desired behaviour of this package.

Greetings,

Please install the fetchmail-ssl package (and remove fetchmail) if you
want to use SSL or TLS.

I'm closing this bug. If you still have problems with the fetchmail-ssl
package, please reopen and reassign to the fetchmail-ssl package.

Regards,
