Hi Frans,

please check the tcpdump for "URG"ent data - that's likely triggering the  
messages. You could try to strace, the -e trace=network macro should do.

My mid-term plan is to do away with peeking anyways. It's used for  
checking for continuation lines and sometimes reading lines with NULs, for  
either there are alternative solutions.
