The problem with init_mm seems to be solved, but there is another
unexported symbol that prevents fglrx version 8.493 to be built for
x86_64. Patching the following line allows the driver to be loaded
though:

linux-source-2.6.25/arch/x86/kernel/smp_64.c:272
+ EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL(flush_tlb_page);

The kernel (patched this way) + 
    fglrx driver (patched not to taint the kernel ;) ), 
work together, but I am not sure about the sanity of the patches.
