[Pkg-fglrx-devel] Bug#579500: fglrx-driver: GL screensavers spanning two screens display extensive corruption

Package: fglrx-driver
Version: 1:10-4~prerelease-1
Severity: normal

I have a large desktop (3200x1200) made by spanning two screens, both plugged
into my Radeon HD 4850 video card. When xscreensaver launches a GL hack, it
can be a small one which will appear on one screen or another, or it may be
one which spans both screens.

In this latter case, I get extensive corruption on my right (center, primary)
screen. About 1/3 of the screen width in from the left there is a vertical
band of garbage which blinks rapidly and I can often see bits of pixmaps from
previous programs. Also, beginning at that point but running along the
bottom, is a horizontal bar of corruption. This crude ASCII picture may help:

-------- ------------
[ ] [ X a ]
[ b ] [ c X ]
[ ] [ XXXXXXX]
-------- ------------

It's roughly something like that. The area labeled "a" in the diagram
contains a heavily distorted "mirror" of the correct graphics being displayed
in the "b" and "c" areas.

I should also note, and I tried to show this in the diagram, that the screens
are not of equal size. The left screen is my secondary display and has a
resolution of 1280x1024 and my right display has a resolution of 1920x1200.

If I were to hazzard a guess as to the cause of the problems, it might be this
mismatched screen geometry. I say this because if a GL hack runs separately
in the right or left screen with a non-GL hack in the other display,
everything is fine. Also, if two separate GL hacks each run in their own
screen, it works too. The corruption only occurs when one hack spans both
screens.

Finally, you will notice a number of Options enabled and disabled in the
driver section of my xorg.conf. I have tried numerous combinations of these
options being on and off, but so far nothing has changed the output.

Please let me know if there is any additional information you need.
