[Pkg-fglrx-devel] Bug#581776: fglrx-driver: conflict error installing fglrx-driver with nvidia-glx present

I tried installing the fglrx-driver package with the nvidia-glx already
installed (I have both an onboard radeon and an nvidia card). Installation
failed with the error messages:

Unpacking fglrx-driver (from .../fglrx-driver_1%3a10-4-1_i386.deb) ...
dpkg-divert: `diversion of /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so to /usr/lib/fglrx/diversions/libglx.so by fglrx-driver' clashes with `diversion of /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so to /usr/lib/nvidia/libglx.so.xlibmesa by nvidia-glx'
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/fglrx-driver_1%3a10-4-1_i386.deb (--unpack):
 subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 2
Errors were encountered while processing:

This bug might also need filing against nvidia-glx: the other way around
gave similar errors.
