yes the bug is quite old on ubuntu but users patched the init to recreate
the /var/run/firebird/2.x
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/12666826/firebird2.0_2.0.3.12981.ds1-1ubuntu3.debdiff
i have requested to be patched into the ubuntu package but seems that nobody
does anything
so have to take it on myself and become an motu then i hope to patch it so i
don't need someone to sponsor it

ps:on debian i didn't observed because servers are on ups :) so we should
create an bug report

ok great to know it ,
another thing is how do i ignore .git files when i create the package ?
could you give me some tips because my .orig.tar.gz is quite huge (24 megs)

no wonder that is nightmare for you to maintain the firebird package :)
I guess we should find an elegant solution without too much work

i will check to see what is the ubuntu policy on this
ps: i hate when distro maintainers become too smart and start messing with
things that worked before
